The International Foundation Diploma for Business Management is designed to bridge the gap between your existing education and the demands of a business-related university degree.
Its size is one of its key strengths. Rather than studying a large number of smaller introductory modules, you will undertake three substantial 30-credit areas in Academic English, Financial Accounting and Business Management, supported by specialist 10-credit studies in Business Numeracy, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Business & Employment Law.
Build the academic English universities expect
For international students, university success is about more than being able to speak English.
English for Academic Purposes is a substantial 30-credit component of the programme. You will develop academic reading and essay-writing skills, listening and note-taking, academic vocabulary, paraphrasing, summarising, proofreading, discussion skills and oral presentations.
The programme aims for learners to use English across reading, writing, listening and speaking at a level suitable for higher education, identified within the programme learning outcomes as CEFR B2 or above.
Understand how businesses work
Through the 30-credit Business Management unit, you will investigate business functions, organisational structures and management theory.
Explore influential thinkers including Taylor, Maslow and Herzberg, examine different leadership styles and management functions, and investigate the impact of globalisation through areas such as international supply chains, multinational strategy and cultural and legal influences.
You will also work with established business frameworks including SWOT, PESTLE and Porter's Five Forces, developing the vocabulary and analytical approaches you are likely to encounter during further business study.
Develop a strong foundation in finance
Financial Accounting is another substantial 30-credit component.
You will explore accounting principles and develop practical understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, trial balances, income statements and statements of financial position.
The course goes beyond producing accounts. You will use profitability and liquidity ratios, variance analysis and trend analysis to assess business performance and learn to communicate your conclusions through written financial analysis.
Become confident with numbers and business data
Through Business Numeracy, you will apply percentages, ratios, break-even calculations and interest calculations to business scenarios.
You will also explore averages, standard deviation, charts, graphs and data literacy before using digital tools such as spreadsheet formulas, charts and pivot tables to analyse and present business information.
Explore AI and the changing world of business
Modern graduates are entering a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence.
Principles of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning introduces types of AI, machine-learning methods, the lifecycle of a machine-learning model, neural networks and deep learning.
You will consider applications across sectors such as healthcare, retail and transport while also examining important questions surrounding bias, surveillance, automation and AI ethics.
Understand business and employment law
Finally, Business and Employment Law introduces the legal environment in which organisations operate.
Explore different business structures, contracts, negligence, consumer law, employment contracts, discrimination and termination. You will consider how legal issues influence real business decisions and the relationship between risk, ethics and legal responsibility.

There are no formal entry requirements for students applying for the Cambridge Online Education International Diplomas. Tutors are nevertheless, required to ensure that learners admitted onto the Diploma possess the necessary skills and personal qualities to cope with the demands of the course. We do expect candidates normally operate to at least Level Two in English and Level One in Mathematics - if this is a concern, we offer additional tuition to ensure these levels are met and can be taken forwards into assignments and to university applications. We also expect applicants show appropriate levels of commitment and motivation to have every success on their diploma.

Assessments
All International Diplomas require the achievement of 60 credits. In terms of the length of time required for a learner to complete their diploma, for all International Diplomas the notional learning hours are 600. Notional learning hours comprise all learning that may be relevant to the achievement of the learning outcomes including directed and private study, practical and project work, assignments and assessment time. Your tutor will provide you with formative feedback and all units are PASS/FAIL. Your PASS grades will be then evaluated by the Examination Board. Final awards will be released to students after the External Moderation Visit.

On successful completion of the course, you will receive an accredited International Diploma at level 3, awarded by the Aim Qualifications and Assessment Group.
