If you are passionate about healthcare and want to progress towards a professional career in the health sector, our Level 3 International Diploma in Health Professionals provides a broad and flexible route towards higher education.

Designed for learners who may not have traditional qualifications for university entry, this Level 3 diploma develops knowledge across human biology, health, psychology and healthcare practice, while building the academic skills needed for higher-level study.

Unlike a pathway focused on one specific profession, Health Professionals provides a broad healthcare foundation, making it particularly suitable for learners who want to keep their future university and career options open.

The qualification is designed to support progression to higher education, including bachelor’s degrees, Foundation Degrees, HNC/HND programmes and Higher Degree Apprenticeships.

Course Outline

Modern healthcare brings together science, psychology, social understanding and professional practice. This diploma gives you the opportunity to explore all four, providing a broad foundation for future health-related study.

You will begin by developing your understanding of the human body. Cell Biology, Human Immunity, Human Nutrition & the Digestive System, Human Reproduction, Growth & Development, and The Human Muscular and Skeletal Systems introduce important scientific principles relevant across many healthcare disciplines.

You will then look beyond the biology of illness to understand health in the real world. Through Approaches to Health, Inequalities in Health & Illness, Poverty & Health, and Social Factors in Health and Social Care, you will investigate why people experience different health outcomes and how social and economic circumstances can affect health and access to care.

Healthcare professionals work with individuals from every background. Equality & Diversity within Healthcare helps you explore inclusive healthcare practice, while The Roles & Responsibilities of Healthcare Professionals introduces the expectations and responsibilities associated with working within the sector.

You will also study The History of the National Health Service, providing context for the development of one of the world's best-known healthcare systems.

Understanding behaviour and the relationship between physical and psychological health is another important part of the programme. Introduction to Psychology and The Brain & Nervous System introduce psychological and neurological concepts that can support progression into a variety of health-related disciplines.

Alongside your specialist subjects, dedicated study-skills modules develop your ability to research independently, write academically, prepare assignments and progress successfully into higher education.

The diploma comprises 45 credits of Level 3 academic subject content and 15 credits of Level 3 study skills, totalling 60 credits and 600 notional learning hours.
